BARBARA L. MATHEWS

BOARDMAN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Barbara L. Mathews, 62, who died early Saturday morning at her residence.

Mrs. Mathews was born Aug. 4, 1948, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Marion P. Tyndall Carney.

She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1966 and was a member of the last graduating class of the Y.H.A. School of Nursing in 1969. For the past five years, Mrs. Mathews worked at M.V.I. Hospice Care and for 20 years, she was employed at Beeghly Oaks. She was a member of St. Charles Church.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Mathews, whom she married Nov. 16, 1969; three children, Thomas Mathews of Austintown, Daniel J. (Katie) Mathews of Dublin, Ohio and Martha M. (John) Altman of Toledo; two brothers, James F. (Marlene) Carney of Boardman and Timothy (Barbara) Carney of Madison, Conn.; three sisters, Maureen (Richard) O’Connor of Poland, Peggy McVicker of Pataskala, Ohio and Kieran Canacci of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Kelli, Molly and Carson Altman and Maguire and Keegan Mathews.

Family and friends may call on Monday, Dec., 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McVean, Hughes and McClurkin Funeral Home.
