Poland – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Poland with the Rev. Msgr. William Connell officiating, preceded by a 10:00 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi &* Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Cynthia C. Mascola, 63, of Poland, who passed away Sunday evening, January 8, 2012 with her family by her side. 

Cynthia was born October 8, 1948 in Youngstown, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Topolosky) Olenick and was a lifelong area resident. 

Cynthia was a business education teacher at Hubbard High School for 6 years. At that time she made the decision to start a family and left the classroom to be an actively involved mother and homemaker. Once her children were in their teens she continued her career in teaching at Trumbull Business College in Warren, Ohio for over 16 years. 

She was a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School. She continued her education at Youngstown State University, receiving a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1970. 

Cynthia was a member of Holy Family Church for over 30 years. During those years she was involved in many activities and committees for both the church and school. 

Aside from her family, Cyndy loved nothing more than spending time with her friends. Whether it was a simple meal where laughter and stories were shared or an evening of dinner and dancing those special times were priceless to all involved. 

She leaves her beloved husband, and best friend, of over 39 years, Joseph S. Mascola whom she married August 5, 1972, two loving sons Joseph S. Mascola Jr. of Poland and James M. Mascola of Daytona Beach Florida, her sister Nancy (Matt) Ankeles, her brother-in-law Jerry Navarra and her “Baby Girl” Bellagio, their loyal German Shepherd. 

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Delores “Dee” Navarra. 

Friends may call on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. 

Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
