Jack Zeck was one of my best friends from the time I met him at Immaculate Conception School until his death. We played a lot of basketball together over the years including on the Immaculate Conception team. Jack loved sports. We watched the Youngstown Pequins play basketball, the Cleveland Indians play baseball and Ohio State play football. He loved to watch Ursuline High School football and basketball. Zeck enjoyed "Soul Music" particularly the Temptations. He taught me their dance steps once. As we got older, he taught me the joy of Jimmy Buffett music.

After high school graduation, he came to visit me at Ohio State U many times. In turn, when I came to Youngstown, we would get together. Marty Garchar was one of our close companions. When Jack graduated from Youngstown State U, Marty Garchar helped him get a job in Portland with Dell Publishing. Jack liked Portand a lot, and I had fun with him many times there. He often went to the Oregon coast and mountains. About the time he moved to Seattle ( Kirkland), I moved to Idaho. We visited each other more often then. He thought Idaho was beautiful. I was really impressed that he got a Masters Degree in Accounting while he worked full time.

When he died after playing raquetball, I was shocked. I literally cried all night while I wrote his mother about what a great son she had raised. Marty and I had hoped to meet up with him at our UHS 20th reunion, but he died before the event.

John Zeck was a loyal, dependable friend. I still miss him. I cannot go through Portand or Seattle without thinking of him.

This is a picture of the two of us from the summer of 1976 at Mount Hood, Oregon.

John was one of the sweetest and most courteous boys going to school with at Immacuate Conception.  From a great East side family. He always had a smile for everyone. Taken way too soon. RIP... Priscilla

Jack and I were friends that grew with classes at Ursuline and football at Rayen field.  We became better friends with our meetings at Toni's, iggloo and other establishments that encouraged us to think about life over a cold one.  Work at Safeway and putting up with Mel
