BOARDMAN — Marianne Elizabeth Poprik, 72, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, with family by her side, after a three-year battle with cancer.

Marianne was born Oct. 22, 1948, in Youngstown, the daughter of Leroy Millard Jameson and Laura Valentine Jameson.

Marianne graduated from Ursuline Catholic High School in 1966. She attended Youngstown State University and was employed 32 years by Ohio Bell / Verizon prior to retiring. After retirement, Marianne enjoyed her new job as a Sam’s Club sample lady, where she was able to entice anyone to buy her product and loved talking with all the customers.

She was an active member of the community and served on the executive board of Polish Arts Club, a founding member of Polish Youngstown, a frequent member of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Team, president of AT&T Telecom Pioneers and served on the executive board of American Business Women’s Association, for which she received the “ABWA Woman of the Year” award in 2008. She was a lifelong member of St. Casimir Church until 2012, and more recently, SS. Peter and Paul.

Family and friends were Marianne’s passion and delight. She leaves behind a special group of ladies, her “club girls,” that have been together since the 1970s. Marianne never met a stranger in her life. She loved to hear anyone’s story and had a story to tell for just about anything you could think of. Her greatest joy in life though, were her children and four grandchildren.

Marianne leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Laurie (Christopher) May of Boardman; her son, Jeffrey (Faith) Poprik of Chagrin Falls; and her grandchildren, Carter, Aidan, Victoria May and Annie Poprik.

The family is grateful for the excellent care that Marianne received from the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at The Cleveland Clinic, as well as many of her special caretakers at the Laurels of Chagrin Falls. Excellent care was also provided by Hospice of Western Reserve.

A celebration of life service will be Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Apostles Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Church, Youngstown.
