YOUNGSTOWN—Services will be 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, and 10 a.m. in Saint Patrick Church for Patrick H. Collins, 58, who died at 8 p.m. Thursday at his residence from complications of an extended illness.

Patrick was born February 25, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of Henry J. and Mary Agnes O’Hara Collins and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended YSU for two years. He retired in 2004 from WRTA as a driver for handicap busing after 20 years of service.

Patrick was a member of Saint Patrick Church and the Knights of Columbus. Family always came first with Patrick and he especially enjoyed vacationing with them. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking in Mill Creek Park and was an avid Notre Dame Fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
 
He was an Army veteran, serving with the Military Police in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

Besides his mother, Mary Agnes Collins of Youngstown, he leaves his wife, Joan A. Collins, whom he married December 4, 1971; his daughter, Kerry A. Collins and her fiancé, Ryan Smith of Youngstown; two sisters, Jeanne M. Fisher and her husband, Jim of Austintown and Janice A. Foley of Vienna; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Fisher and his fiancé, Kristin Candle, Jeff Fisher and his fiancé, Tara Slusarsyk, Jill Felton and her husband Brian,Kasey Foley and her father Philip Foley; a very special part of his extended family, Mary Rose Gleason; and his beloved dog, Guinness.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pat and I had many a laugh about our names...Patrick Collins and Patricia Cullen...well, maybe we did get a little tired of it!  I still remember the green Hudson he drove around and was privileged to be one of the friends who got a ride in it with him.  He was one of the good guys for sure.

Happy birthday, Pat.  When we discovered we shared a birthday and you were older (by 2 hrs. and 20 min.) you never let me forget it.  Rest in peace, old friend; I wish you'd had many, many more years.
