FRANCIS L. KOS

YOUNGSTOWN - Francis L. Kos, 59, passed away late Sunday morning, March 4, after being involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 80 in Shenango Township, Pa.

Frank was born Jan. 23, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of the late Leo and Margaret Magda Kos, and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School, Mr. Kos was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam in the late 1960s and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Frank worked for 37 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Cornersburg and was a recipient this year of the Million Mile Award for safe driving. He was due to retire this April.

He was a member of St. Brendan Church and the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, Local No. 385. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans National Chapter and was a member of the Catholic War Veteran John J. Buckley Post No. 1292.

Frank was an avid golfer, recorded a hole-in-one, and was a member of several local golf leagues.

Mr. Kos leaves his loving wife, Dorothy Johnston Kos, whom he married June 5, 1971; two sons, Daniel (Marne) Kos of Butler, Pa., and Thomas Kos of Youngstown; a grandson, Wyatt; a sister, Jeanette (Jack) Droney of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, John Kos, was killed in action in the Vietnam War.

Frank was a loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather whose life on Earth was cut too short. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A committal service with military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
