Stanna M. Richards

CAMPBELL - Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. John Slovak Catholic Church for Stanna M. (Kucab) Richards, 53, of Coitsville Road, who passed away Friday evening at Austinwoods Nursing Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Richards was born Dec. 19, 1948, a daughter of John and Mary Hovanec Kucab, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School and a 1970 graduate of Notre Dame College.  She then attained her master's degree in Spanish from Youngstown State University, where she also served as a graduate assistant.

She was an educator at Campbell Memorial High School for 30 years, retiring in June.  She most recently had been a travel agent for All Around Travel of Campbell and a Spanish instructor at Kent State University.

She continually sought opportunities for self development as is evident by her active involvement in a multitude of professional organizations.  She participated in NCTE, OCTELA and WROTE.  She volunteered many hours as a local judge and organizer of YSU's English Festival.  She held a longtime position as social chairperson of the Campbell Education Association and was a delegate to the Ohio Education Association's representative assembly and a Jennings Scholar.  Clearly, she was a valuable asset to the area's academic community.

A beloved colleague and trusted friend and confidante, she will be truly missed by all the people whose lives she touched, especially her husband Gary Richards, whom she married June 19, 1988; her mother-in-law, Betty Richards; and her family members and many friends.

She celebrated life each day.  Please join her family as she begins her new live in God's paradise.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wasko funeral Home.
