Paul Cappuzzello

JULY 2, 1948 – MAY 29, 2023

Paul Cappuzzello passed in peace on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the age of 74, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1948, to the late Angelo and Margarita (Guarnieri) Cappuzzello.

Paul is survived by his wife, Shari, of 44 years and his children, Sarah Bohman (Kurt) of Powell, Ohio, Lauren Berger (Doug) of Powell, Ohio, and Hannah Frizzi (Matt) of Ostrander, Ohio. Paul took extreme pride and joy in his role as “Papa” to his seven grandchildren — Noelle, Audrey, Charlotte, Addelyn, Elliot, Wiley and Walker — all of whom looked to him for life’s lessons, the good and the ornery. Paul and Shari built a life of love and were a shining example of marriage for their three children. He is also survived by his five siblings, Georgeann (Al) Collela, Joseph Cappuzzello, Mary (Dave) Brown, George Cappuzzello and Anne (Tim) Ransone, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ruth Cappuzzello.

Paul will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his generosity, kindness, humor, quick wit, openness and deep faith in God. He looked for ways to share the many blessings life had afforded and was an ardent supporter of Maryknoll, Faith Mission and Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

Paul was an amazing cook and baker whose Italian cookies and meatballs will be missed during holidays and weddings. Many of his days were spent tending to his yard and garden, enjoying special moments with his grandchildren and countless hours solving Word Cookies puzzles. He had a lifelong love of learning and a curiosity that fueled his desire to explore the world. He was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School (1966), Youngstown State University and The University of Michigan (Go Blue!). In addition to roles at Bowling Green State University, University of Toledo and Cal State, Long Beach, Paul enjoyed a 35-year career in library services sales at OCLC in Dublin.

Guests may visit with Paul's family on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church; 7179 Avery Road Dublin, Ohio 43017. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, after the celebration of life luncheon.

In memory of Paul's generosity, the family asks that donations be made to Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers (P.O. Box 302, Maryknoll, NY 10545) or Faith Mission (217 North Grant Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215).
