I knew Bob in grade school, high school, college, and for years and years.   We shared a table with other good friends at the UHS 50th Reunion.   Two days before he died, I was visiting my Mother just up the street from his house.  It was around dinner and it was really snowing hard, so I was hurrying to get home. I knew he hadn't been well for months now, and oh how I wish that I had stopped.  He would have done that for me.

Generous, kind, gentle and loving to all...... and to most of all his family..  HE KNEW WHAT IS IMPORTANT.  IT IS GOD AND FAMILY.

What a terrible shock!  Bob and I would run into each other now and then, but I had no idea that he was ill.  At our reunion, he was just great!  Our deepest condolences to his lovely family...let us all treasure what matters in his memory.

I am very sorry to hear about Bob's passing.  We attended St. Rose, Ursuline, and Youngstown State University together.  For the past 30 plus years I always saw Bob and Lennie at the 4:30 Christmas Eve mass at St. Rose.  However, this year I did not see him.  I emailed him the day after Christmas to find out how he was doing.  He replied that he was getting some tests since he was "low on energy".  I was just going to email him again to find out how the tests went and then I found out about his passing.  My deepest sympathy to Bob's family.

Went to the funeral home Wednesday night, saw three classmates including one who had driven up from Columbus, Mary Ann Reese.  Sad. Bob looked good at the reunion when I walked to him and his death is a total surprise.

Like Don & John I shared shared the classroom with Bob since our early days at St. Rose.  For many of those years we sat next to each other.  Over the last few years I had the opportunity to reacquaint with Bob thanks to the efforts of Don Ferrante.  I remember the Schmalzried family from my early days at St. Rose.  Bob's family exemplifed everything we learned from our parochial education about the value of family and keeping Christ in our lives.  In my view, Bob & Lenny continued to stress these values with their family and lived a spiritual life.  Unfortunately, I am out of town for the winter and unable to attend Bob's Wake.  My regret is magnified by the fact I was unable to attend our reunion last summer and revisit some of the memories we shared.  Bob may God continue to watch over you and rest in peace.
